Want to look great naked and get paid to reach your fitness goal in the process? Sure you do. The most obvious steps are exercising and eating right. The hardest part about exercising is being consistent over the long haul – until now. I’m going to tell you about a new app that can get you into the gym on a regular basis so you see results (with your body and in your bank account) – it’s called GymPact.

Here’s how it works: You make a pact how many days you want to workout a week (3 day minimum) and how much you’re willing to pay if you don’t make it to the gym. To qualify for a workout, you must check-in to your gym or fitness center for at least 30 minutes and when leaving it employs a GPS screening that auto checks outs you. If you fail to reach your goal GymPact charges your credit card – this is called ‘negative motivation.’ Risk as much as you want, the more visits per week the more $$$$ you stand to earn. The reward at the end of every week is small (4 days a week averages about $20 a month) but there is a certain satisfaction in earning it, especially if it winds up paying for at least some of your membership.  Every week the money is tallied up from all the lazy people not meeting their pacts and is split up among all the people that completed their pacts. If you achieve your goal you receive the money via PayPal. Simple, yes.

You may be asking “What if I don’t do the gym thing, can I still get paid to look great naked too?” We have the answer – YES. You can now GymPact ‘Anywhere.’ Basically the app uses your iPhone’s accelerometer to count any exercise anywhere. Pushups, Pilates, sit-ups, etc. as long as you keep moving for 30 minutes the exercise counts. You can keep the iPhone in your pocket or get an armband and you’re off. They’ve also combined the app with RunKeeper, just meet the following requirements and your credit card won’t be charged.

  • All runs, walks or bike rides tracked by RunKeeper’s GPS
  • Minimum 1/2 miles distance
  • Minimum of 30 minutes of activity in which your pace is above 2 miles per hour (but slower than driving!).
    If in doubt, an extra 5 minutes of walking, running or biking never hurts!
  • Maximum 3 hours long

There’s also a ‘reminder’ feature to make sure you don’t forget to go exercise and use the GymPact app. So far they haven’t had a reason to withdraw my money and I plan on keeping it that way! It’s not only a useful tool for people that have a hard time staying committed to the gym, but it’s also great for people who are consistent but want to increase their visits per week – which is precisely how I’ve used it.
